Mixed trip, Sunday April 27th

April 27, 2008

Was a rainy and cool day. Wanted to go up to Winni but Saturday the 26th was opening day for our Tball league. What a long day that was. My daughters 1st game as well. So Sunday I woke up with no plans. Saw a downrigger posted on a forum that I frequent and sent an email inquiring about it. Before you knew it I was heading up there with my brother Shawn and nephew Nick to check it out / buy it.

To make the trip a little fun, we also went to Alton bay and fished from the docks for a few. Then we stopped at Clough pond and then various places along the Sucook river. I caught 2 fair rainbows at the last spot. It was getting dark so we headed home. After getting home, I noticed I lost my cell phone. Headed back to the last spot and found it. That was a pain. I had the phone on vibrate too so the old call your phone from another trick made it harder to locate. Luckily, I have my wife’s cell phone set to always ring and found it with hers out in the wooks along the river bank.

Sunday April 20th – Glenn Lake

April 20, 2008

Worked on the boat until 1AM the night before. Plan was to go to Winnipesaukee but there was still some ice. It was close though. Ice out was declared Tuesday 2 days later.

Went to Glen lake instead. Better to stay close fot the 1st trip anyways, especially with a late start. I was very tired from the day before and was not in shape for a long day.

Water was very low. Temps in the low to mid 40s. Caught a few largemouth off of some wood on a jig. Trolled some to try out the new planer mast. Gas guage was acting funny but by the end of the trip it was working again.

Stopped at the shoreline to pickup Ryan for a little bit. He did not have his pole so I let him use mine. He likes using expensive stuff including tackle. He wanted me to switch lures for him too. 🙂

Was a short trip but great to get the boat out and try our prototype planer mast that we build. It worked ok but modification list was made shortly after that day. We actually worked on it as soon as we got back to my place. Also mounted the bimini top too.
